Gutta Percha is certinly one of the of the more unusual and beautiful of the many different types of marbles produced. They come in every size, often fairly large and are usually beautifully painted in earthy colors with some vibrant blues and bright reds and yellows. Gutta Percha is a substance made from the sap of certain tropical trees. After the sap is formed into a sphere it hardens and has a texture unlike any other marble you’ll hold. The Gutta Percha marbles we’ve seen are far and few between. It’s doubtful they spent much time making marbles out of the topical latex when there were so many other materials to use. It’s also doubtful they were really intended to be used as marbles for play as they are usually too big and more of an art object than a toy. Nonetheless, the Gutta Percha marble is a true collectors item and occasionally pop up for sale. Keep yours eyes open.
